Information for Expecting Parents
Congratulations! Becoming a parent is one of the happiest and most rewarding experiences in life. At Hilliard Pediatrics, we share in your joy and are committed to keeping your baby healthy. We would be honored to walk with you through your journey as your child's pediatrician.
Selecting the right pediatrician is a big decision. Our pediatricians are all Board Certified in Pediatrics. Our experienced nurses are available during business hours at 614-777-1800, opt 1. They can answer questions, provide advice, and if needed schedule an appointment to see one of our providers. Our physicians and nurse practitioners are available after hours for any emergencies that may arise. We offer "walk-in" times in the morning Monday through Friday from 8am - 9am for minor issues that may arise overnight. Additionally, we always have appointments saved for same day visits.
Please note that you do not need to register with our office before your baby is born. We recommend checking with your insurance carrier to confirm that we are in network. Our providers are in network with most commercial insurance policies as well as Medical Mutual of Ohio and CareSource from the Marketplace. We do not take Medicaid or BCMH.
Scheduling a Complimentary Prenatal Visit
We understand the importance of finding a pediatrician that shares your philosophy on the medical care of your child. Our providers are glad to offer group prenatal visits either in person or via Zoom. A prenatal visit is not required, but it gives you the opportunity to meet one of our physicians or nurse practitioners, ask questions and receive guidance. This is a no commitment and 100% free visit.
Our upcoming prenatal classes:
- December 23 at 6:30pm with Dr. Will - Virtual via Zoom
- January 16 at 5:30pm with Dr. Britney - In Person
If you would like to register for one of these classes please complete our registration form below. You should receive a confirmation email within 1-2 business days. If the prenatal is virtual, the email will include the Zoom meeting information. If the prenatal is in-person, the email will include directions to the office. If you do not receive this email, please give our office a call (614-777-1800, opt 2) and we will confirm your information and resend the email.
After the Baby Arrives
Once your baby is born, you simply need to notify the hospital staff that you have chosen Hilliard Pediatrics to provide your baby's pediatric healthcare. A hospital-staffed pediatrician will see your newborn while in the hospital, and they will also give you discharge paperwork to bring with you to your first visit with us. Unless the hospital pediatrician recommends otherwise, we typically see babies for their first visit 2-3 days after discharged from the hospital.
Once you are discharged from the hospital and have been home overnight, call our office and a receptionist will get your baby registered with our practice and schedule your first appointment. You will also speak with one of our nurses so they can obtain your history and check-in to see how the baby is doing.
If you would like, you can complete the new patient paperwork at home and bring it with you to your first appointment. This paperwork can be found under the forms section of our website.
Your First Visit
At this visit, we will check the baby's weight and evaluate their feeding as well as answer any questions that you may have.
Please bring a copy of your insurance card, driver's license and discharge paperwork to your first appointment. We recommend bringing insurance cards for both parents as most plans will cover the baby under mom's policy for the first 30 days, regardless of whether that is the plan the baby is being added to.
As a reminder, you will need to add your baby to your health insurance. Most insurance plans require newborns to be added within 30 days of their date of birth. If you need assistance with this, your HR representative is typically the best place to start. You can also call our billing department, at 614-777-1800, opt 5 and we will help you navigate through the process.
